Did you miss me?

Curious sheep on the headland

I was listening to a podcast at the weekend, and these words really resonated:

'Is it not possible that a place could have huge affection for those who dwell there? Perhaps your place loves having you there. It misses you when you are away and in its secret way rejoices when you return. Could it be possible that a landscape might have a deep friendship with you? That it could sense your presence and feel the care you extend towards it? Perhaps your favourite place feels proud of you.' John O'Donohue, Divine Beauty: The Invisible Embrace.

I have a very deep affection for this place. It has carried my tears, and heard my cries of delight. Amidst its ancient rocks, it has sown in me seeds of new things, and nurtured them. It has reminded me of its strength and its fragility. I'm grateful for all that it continues to give, and I care for this place by monitoring wildlife and beach cleaning.

It's a joy to think that in some small way this place misses us when we're not there, perhaps grateful for our devotion and dedication, and rejoices when we return.

As we remember the many benefits of being in blue space, in your grateful receiving, how are you giving abundantly?
